For a while, the Ruth/Maris 60+ home run mark was considered impossible. Then two guys (McGwire & Sosa) surpass it in one year, another (Bonds) hits 73 a few years later. Anyone in the major leagues those years were expected to hit 20+ homers.
For the record, all three have been linked to performance enhancing drugs (PEDs).
Thank you, Merlin. You are, of course, spot on. Thank goodness there are people who aren't so influenced by public sentiment and opinion that they refuse to follow their dream.
It is not until someone breaks the barrier in the first place that the herd then realise they can follow.
That's what makes the achievement of the first so great.
Over the years one of the things I most admire about the human spirit is the way that people who say; "That's impossible, " are usually pushed out of the way by those doing it.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
