A Question About Monarch Caterpillars?

They're butterflies so it's called a crysalis, not a cocoon. Use a large glass jar, put some netting over the top (a cut up nylon stocking works) and hold it on with a rubber band. Put a stick in the jar so it goes diagonally, and then daily you feed them milkweed leaves, they ONLY eat milkweed.

There are a couple different species of milkweed, so if they don't go for the leaves make sure you get leaves from a different plant, but do make sure they always have some food in there, they eat constantly. I used to raise them. When they get big they use the stick to attach their crysalis to--don't press on it, it's fragile.

If you have multiple caterpillars in the jar have a few sticks. I believe it's 18 days to hatching. You should put the sticks outside since monarchs hatching in too small a container will damage their wings permanently and not be able to fly.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
