Act II, Richard Wagner's "Die Walkure": care to comment on its musical tapestry, logic, difficulty in comprehending?

I'm a devout Wagnerian(correction: "addict"). And even though I realize his music is not for everyone, and know that I may not even receive one response to my question, I nevertheless am going to ask it.In terms of its musical logic, I've always found that for me, this one particular act of the Ring requires my rapt and most intense focus, much more so than any other. I heard James Levine once say in a interview, "Even though I've conducted it countless times, it always terrifies me whenever I step up onto the podium to conduct it".

A segment that I always seem unable to logically grasp(musically), occurs at the very end of the act: it's those measures where there is a very elongated uprush on the strings after Wotan has ranted his threatened vengeance upon Brunnhilde, and rushes off stage to the final thundering notes of the full orchestra. Can anyone help me with this? 1 I can provide you with a Synopsis of Act II but I think you already know that. Have you tried youtube. Com yet?

You might get some clues along the way when watching it. Also, you might try to contact whoever posted the music on that website and they'd offer some suggestions. youtube.com/results?search_query=wagner+... .

2 Thank you very much for the You Tube link(s). I browse that website almost everyday looking for worthwhile and unusual videos; but must admit some of those that were listed I've never come across: thanks again.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
