Adventurous or relaxing? What would you like your dream vacation to be like?

I try for a combination of both. I can't stand going to a new place and not seeing things and experiencing things there, so I have to have some adventure. I can't feel like I'm wasting my time in a new place.

I also don't want to be exhausted though, and make sure I have some time for laying around. I'm going to Costa Rica next month, and I'm looking forward to doing some hiking on the volcano, exploring the jungle a little, and will be doing some volunteer work. I hope to take some tours and would like to try a zip line through the forest if it's available while I'm there.

I'm also really looking forward to just laying in the hot tub and listening to the forest though.

My dream vacation would be both adventurous and relaxing. I would charter a large sailing vessel, and sail to Australia. The crew would be able to sail the vessel without my help, but would cheerfully humor me if I wished to learn how to sail her and how to navigate.

I would have everyone I loved along with me, and we would party all the time. There would be helicopters following us closely in case of any emergency. Once we arrived in Australia, we would go on guided tours and see everything.

We would go on one long walking tour for a few days, and that would be physically challenging. When we got back from that, we would pamper ourselves in five star hotels and go see shows and take helicopter tours. Who wants to come with me?

:).

With three grown children, a nine year old and 7 grandchildren I get all the adventure I need. My dream vacation would be me and hubby in some little beach cottage with no one around for miles. We've never had a honeymoon so, it would be nice to have one.

:).

It depends on how long the vacation is. If I just go away for a couple of days I like to relax. But after the second or third day I need to get up and get moving and find some adventure.

Between adventurous and relaxing, I'm going to have to choose relaxing. I don't really intend to go rock climbing or anything like that on vacation. If it's athletic, skipping it definitely works for me.

I suppose a shopping marathon might be one exception, but I don't know if that counts. I'm not sure where I'd optimally travel to. Turks and Caicos is very nice from what I've heard.

I've never been, so it would be great to try it out.

Both; there's no reason why a vacation has to be one or the other. Let me explain. As far as the adventurous side, vacations can be wonderful times to try new things or things you don't get an opportunity to do in your day-to-day lives.

Exploring, going new places, getting re-acquainted with the outdoors -- all of these have a bit of adventure. But vacations should also be relaxing. I hate being overscheduled.

I don't like it when "adventurous" things become obligations, just another slot in the routine, instead of fun new things to do. After all, the point of vacations are to enjoy one's self. If it isn't fun, it isn't worth doing at all.So any vacation I go on needs plenty of downtime, and on my own terms.

That way, it's still worth it.

When I am really stressed out, I will lean toward relaxing, with a bit of adventure to spice things up. Perhaps that is why as people get older, they prefer to more relaxing vacation while younger people seeks more adventure. Younger people want to experience the world, while the older adults usually take a vacation to relieve themselves from work stress.

Right now, I want to go around Europe in comfortable trains and buses and relax in clean bed and breakfast ( I don't need 5 stars hotels) as long as the B & B is clean and comfy. Then I will visit the museums, castles, and countrysides, and sample some pastries and cheese. Thankfully I don't like haute cuisine, so I can save a lot of money.

Well, relaxing is a word used broadly for vacations these days. For me, I am most relaxed when my vacation did not cost an arm and a leg (finance), the jet lag does not make me take a day just to recuperate (distance/time difference), and the place is tranquil. If you are located in California, there are some great locations to go for a relaxing vacation, which require very limited time on a plane or if done right, limited cash too.

Considering you went to China, I am assuming you are not on the same budget as a newly graduated college student with loans up the wazooo. Here are some great options, as I am making my comments with your default location being California, the distance issue might vary for you if you are else where.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
