Both have their own advantages. It all depends on the type of business you want to do. But overall I wil tell that advertising using a paid method is better.

Free methods you can put many as many ads you want without any fees to be collected people will view your ads but mostly paid advertisement makes a lot of good sure clients.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
