When and why must the air be purged from the BD Vacutainer® Safety-Lok™ Blood Collection Set (SLBCS) and the BD Vacutainer® Push Button Blood Collection Set (PBBCS) tubing?

It is critical to purge the air from the tubing of a blood collection set when collecting a sodium citrate tube for PT and/or APTT testing. A plain discard tube or another sodium citrate tube should be used first to purge the air from the tubing and allow a full draw into the citrate tube. Purging the air from the tubing is also recommended before drawing any additive tube.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
