I am a chiropractor. I have seen patients that are "paralyzed". One was a woman who was injured in an accident, damaged her brain.
This lead to what we call an upper motor neuron lesion. Certain nerve pathways in her body are chronically "turned on" which leads to chronic contraction of muscles that are innervated by the affected pathways. I cared for her for 10+ years.
No one can undo what was done to her. But due to the fact that she was bound to a wheelchair and had to use her body in a unique way, this cause her a lot of musculoskeletal stress. Her adjustments gave her relief from chronic aches and pains throughout her body.
She also suffered from chronic headaches. Her headaches were often alleviated by adjusting which gave her a better quality of life. The other patient had an injury to her spinal cord.
This lead her to have a true paralysis (in what you might consider when you think of a paralyzed person). Her experience in my office was quite the same as the other person I mentioned. Chiropractic care is not about "fixing" or "curing".
It is a healthcare model that gives patient a pathway to better function, reduction of presenting symptoms and patient satisfaction rates that surpass their medical equivalents . This has been demonstrated over and over in the literature, yet we still see people, like the other posters here, that stick with the notion that ALL chiropractor are quacks and don't help patients other than lighten their wallets. Over the past 30 days I have seen 3 of my patients demonstrate nearly 100% reduction of symptoms and xray examination reveals spinal misalignment reduced from 50% - 100% depending upon the case.
It doesn't matter how many times these people want to degrade chiropractic...it works and patients know it when they experience it.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
