All the writers out there...If you put as much time into writing a book as you put into Askville?

Well, maybe... but it's so much easier to write here in little bits and pieces than to write in one lonnnnggggg format! You write here, and you're done...no worries about connecting to the next idea or next chapter. It's just a whole lot of short short stories!

But I also think writing in Askville helps "tone" you're writing; you can practice your writing and grammar and work on it to be effective and clear, and Askville gives you plenty of practice in that. It helps me clarify my thinking on certain things, and how to approach things in a more diplomatic way. It's a good thing!

Probably not. =) I put a lot of time into Askville, and I'm one of those who loves to write. I have two problems with writing a book.

First, a long-winded Askville answer is still only a fraction of even a short story. For my profession I regularly wrote 1500-3000 word Research Notes for my previous employer's clients. That always seemed like a good length to me.

Any longer than that and I tend to get bored with my own words. =) Also, I'm just no good at the plot development that a good story requires. But, yes, if you added up the words I've written on Askville they might produce a short novella or so..

Well, since I am fairly new, not new new, but kinda new to askville my book would not be complete but it would be 2/3 of the way completed. It would still require editing and revisions but it would be pretty hot. With all of the research and thought that I put into some of my answers I think the book would be quite knowledgeable and funny at the same time.It would be a best seller.

Now I am thinking that maybe I should pull myself away from Askville and start writing that book.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
