Feeling guilty or worthless for a good chunk of time usually stems from something else going on in your life that you are struggling with. Sounds like you are using religion as a means to cope and sometimes that does help for others. But if you find that that is not helping you perhpas you need to explore other things (i.e.
Talking to a non-religious counselor). Until you feel you can approach your religion and deal with it. I know when most people are down and out and depressed sometimes it's hard to find things, even things that you are suppose to love to help motivate us.
You should see postpardum mothers, they are suppose to love their babies and the experience but deep down feel broken and guess what? That's just the depression they are going through and they can get through it. It does sound like you have some things in your past and present that may be the cause of these feelings that is even causing you to feel unmotivated by your own religion, and that's ok.
You will get through it. You need to find somene to talk to that makes you feel heard that's all. I don't see any reason for you to change your religion especially during this time.
I'm a Christian as well but I know a lot about people and mental healthcare, you will get through this. The human mind can over-come a lot. In dealing with Christianity and your guilt: The Christian teaching is that the Lord, Jesus Christ loves you no matter what, even if you dislike yourself.
You are accepted no matter what. And it may feel that others are "better Christians" as you put because at the moment they have the strength to talk you as a friend. You would probably do the same for them if you were feeling well enough.
