I think it's pretty obvious that the satellite data has some flaws now and then. It will be fixed soon I am sure as it has done before with both Arctic and Antarctic data. The last time this occurred was because there was no data for the date specified.
I don't think ice extent is a reliable indicator of what is happening. It is often used in climate denial literature to suggest cooling. However, ice extent is the extent at which the ice covers the ocean.
This is usually ice that have broken off the main mass due to warming. The ice then covers a greater extent of the ocean thus giving the impression the Arctic is getting bigger. But the albedo coefficient of ice extent is quite low because the ice is merely small chunks floating on the surface.
My suggestion, look at the big picture. Don’t do what deniers do, which is only look at the extent.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
