Any tips on how to get my toddler not to dread getting his haircut?

First things first, if the hairdresser you have is not outgoing and understanding towards children, it may be time to find a new stylist. There are many salons out there that cater to children. There are also some salons dedicated just towards children.

The atmosphere, furniture and setting is very pleasing and kid friendly. Stylists are hired because they are good with kids. They understand the fear that can go along with getting one's haircut.

Once you have found the right salon, there are a few more things you can do to help your child enjoy getting his haircut. Make sure your child is not crabby or needing a nap. It is best to go when your child is well rested and in a good mood.

Next, make it an exciting experience. Perhaps the first visit or two you could use bribery. A nice ice cream after he was good at the salon may be a must.

Praise your child if he is being good and sit by his side while he gets his haircut if need be.
