This morning I found my second big unopened bottle of liquid Gain detergent with a puddle of detergent under it! What a mess and a waste! A couple weeks ago I had the first one a 100 ounce bottle do this.
I tranferred the detergent to two empty Arizona Tea containers and used it all. Today I find a 200 ounce bottle with the same leaking! What could be causing this?
What a mess and a waste of good money! I try to buy detergent and other staples ahead when it is on sale, but this a is not saving me any money with the leaking and waste! Could it have something to do with my metal storage shelves out in the garage where I store extra things?
In the past I always used powder detergent and never had a bit of problem with leakage or other damage. I just recently decided to change to liquid because the powder has been leaving a residue on my clothes and washing machine. I have another two bottles out there and am now getting worried.

YES! I thought it was just me! I don't normally buy Gain but I won a bottle in a contest.
When I got it it had leaked all over the box it came in, so I washed it off, ensured the lid was on tight, and put it on the shelf. I got it this weekend to do the laundry and it was in a puddle! I think we need to write to the company!

It's not incredibly unusual - these large bottles have to ship via truck to your store They are in thin-walled bottles and those bottles can easily develop a pinhole that eventually gets large enough to leak. I see no information that says plastic and metallic surfaces and the detergent will chemically interact to cause the leak, so I think you're safe there - you may have gotten two bottles out of a shipment that came at the same time and were unusually knocked around. I'd write the manufacturer of Gain and tell 'em your plight - at the least, they'll almost certainly send you a few coupons.

I would suggest transferring the remaining ones inside your house and putting them on or in something that is easy to clean. Your garage may be experiencing temperature extremes that are causing problems for the containers. If they are inside where the temperature and humidity are fairly constant that might eliminate the problem.
As well, storing them on or in something easy to clean should make your life a bit easier if they do leak. I use the large bottles of Gain High Efficiency liquid and have never had a problem. I store them above my washer, and have stored them there for up to 6 months with no leaking, not even a drop from the dispenser spout which I leave uncovered once I start using it.

2 Called Proctor and Gamble. They said they will report the problem and are sending me some coupons. I will report back.
A friend of mine thinks it might be leaking because it gets hot in my garage where I store struff here in FL and that the product just kind of expanded and came over the top. I moved my remaining unopened bottle into the house to store it.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
