I do not have direct experience with the two drugs you mentioned, but I have taken medication for ADHD (Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder)|ADD and related disorders. It seems to me that you are making the right decision at this time. You've weighed the benefits and drawbacks of switching medications, and have decided that trying something new is worth it.
Purely for the economic reasons you are making a good decision. Saving an estimated $50 a month that you don't have to pay extra for the Adderall will save you a lot of money. If the Vyvanse works as well or better than the Adderall, then this is a win-win for you.
I do personally believe that new drugs can work better than older drugs. Especially for some people. Everyone's body chemistry is different.Me, I absolutely cannot take stimulant drugs for my ADD due to side effects, even if they are super-good and super-safe at controlling symptoms for most people.
There is a ton of research that is done on new drugs, and a lengthy FDA approval process. Scientists can and do benefit from all the research that was done on the older drugs and build on that.So it's not *just* hype. Then again, the drug company needs to have a new drug in order to keep making money, because its patent on Adderall is running out soon.
The company is also looking out for their bottom line and trying to give incentives for people to try their new drug. Both things can be true at the same time; they are not mutually exclusive. The final thing is, if you're not getting good results on Vyvanse, then you can always switch back to adderall, which you know works for you, fairly easily.
And, by that time, there may be a cheaper generic version of it available, where you are saving even more money. Good luck wit the switch, and I hope you hear from someone who does have experience with both of these drugs so they can give you more direct information about Adderall and Vyvanse specifically.
Anyways this answer is closed but thats ok. I have ADHD and take Adderall XR and have not switched to Vyvanse basically because I am tired of pills period, I have to take medication to fall asleep because the Adderall keeps me up at night, it is evil lol.
I was never on Addrall but I was on Ritralin and switched to Vyvance and I am very pleased with the outcome. As a child I was diognosed as being ADHD but my mother refused treatment for me. As I became a teenager I was still experiencing a lot of discipline problems, so naturally all of my teachers and adult figures gave me pure negative attenion.
After a while I became depressed so my mother took me to see a doctor and they started prescibing me anti-depressants. I am now 27 years of age and have been on every mood stabalizer and tried every anti-depressant there is. None of them worked but evey doctor was sure I was bi-polar, even though the medication that they gave me made things worse.
This year I switched doctors and my new doctor sked me if I had ever been diognosed as ADHD, of course I replied yes. I didn't think that that would still aply to me as an adult, but this medication has changed my life completely! I have 6 children age ranging from 9 to 2 and my 2 oldest boys have been diognosed as being ADHD too and I try extriemely hard to make sure I praise them all the time and let them know how smart they are.
Its better to get diognosed at young age and get the right treatment, even though medication is not a fix all, it gets you started on the right track! I wish you all well....
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
