Zazzie, I am five times your age and am still doing my research. You may be far more brilliant than I am, but I doubt it. Have you read the entire Bible or even the entire New Testament?
Have your studies included scholars on both sides of the issue? The simple answer to your question is "go voluntarily." Your parents may order you to attend church with them and the First Amendment is not applicable, since it is directed at government, not families.
When you become an adult you can choose to believe or disbelieve. Unitl then, mind your parents. Oh, I spent a good many years as an agnostic before I realized Christian beliefs are not primitive at all.
I came back to Jesus on my own--at age 39, by the way.
Oh, well - if you are 14, then clearly you have the mental and emotional capacity to dismiss centuries of the greatest theological and philosophical theories on religion as nothing more than "primitive beliefs." Why don't you just explain to your parents that you read the Summa Theologica of Aquinas, answered the arguments for theism presented by the likes of Kant, Hegel, Descartes, Spinoza, Godel, Locke, and Leibniz, and refuted the ridiculous assertions of Alvin Platinga and Antony Flew? I'm sure they will understand that.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
