Anyone out there had experience with companies that convert cassette tapes to cd's?

There are several such businesses listed via internet search but it's hard to tell which ones do a good job for a reasonable price.. Asked by newbie624014 56 months ago Similar questions: experience companies convert cassette tapes cd's Computers > Hardware > Computer Components.

It's very easy to do this oneself, so those companies are kind of a waste of money Unless you're dealing with damaged tapes, none of those companies are really worthwhile though I expect almost any of them can do a good job. Your best choice would be to find that is actually near where you live so that you can avoid any shipping costs and the risk of losing your tapes in the mail. You're also more likely to get good service if they have to see you face to face.

But if you have to go with a mail-in service, try using one that looks reputable and searching for comments from people who have tried them. A quick look through the newsgroups and it seems that these guys are okay:http://www.videoforyou.com. /audio_cd.

HtmBut really, it's very easy to yourself as long as you've got a CD burner in your computer. For a very simple guide which tells you how to do this, check here:web.singnet.com.sg/~lion4/articles/diy/c... luck! Sources: http://www.videoforyou.com.

D I Y Do it yourself, it is so much cheaper, and you get full control. You can either just use line-out from your tapedeck to line-in on your sound-card, or you can buy a PC tape deck like this one in the link. It's 100 dollars, but I don't know any decent services that would be much less than that, and this way you could do it any time you wanted!

Ask or check what exactly they do. VHS is video of far lower quality than DVD or DiVx encoded AVI. Even Video CD has better specifications.

Because of that, when people transfer video from VHS to a digital medium, it is not going to look any better. So, basically, only thing to look out for is how much effort they invest in making the disk easy to use by you. First off, what do you get?

A Video CD (VCD), DivX (some older DVD players don't play those, particularly brand names such as SONY...) or a DVD? I'd suggest to avoid ones that only convert to VCD - it is an old format, and has rather lousy specs, and some DVD players might have problems with playing those. DivX is fine if you are going to watch it mostly on your computer and you don't really need menus.

There won't be much difference in video quality if they convert it to DVD. Starting video has lower specs than DVD. But, check if they only "burn" the video in MPEG2 on the disk or do they create the entire package - menus, chapters, subtitles if needed... etc.Doing all that is really not that hard anymore, and you should really go for nothing less.

I.e. The new Jay-Z album. " "Do you have any VHS tapes that you'd like to convert to DVD?

If so how much would you pay for this type of service? :).

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
