No it is actually perfect for reading novels. I own a first generation kindle and love it. The screen size is really perfect for reading most books.
Now if you are a heavy PDF user and want to read things that have a more fixed layout, like technical books, then the Kindle DX is for you.
If you take a normal paperback book and measure it you'll soon get an accurate idea of how the 6" screen compares to a normal book page. The screen on the Kindle 2 is very clear and the screen size is more than adequate for reading normal books. For PDF's or maps etc you can spin the Kindle (the same way you do with an Iphone and it will give you a landscape view).
If you are in the USA the Kindle DX has a much larger screen at 9.3" but it's not available outside the US and Amazon haven't said if it will be in the future.
I do not have a Kindle but I have a Cybook which also has a 6 inch screen. It is not too small. It is about the size of a book and I absolutely love it.
Most ebook readers are 6 inches. One thing, if you live outside of the USA, you can check your country on the kindle page (where it says "check your country" just above the video demonstration)to see what restrictions or features may apply to your country. This page also has features, specs and video of the kindle.
Amazon Kindle pageTake a look at how my cybook looks next to a book. This will give you an idea of the screen size on the kindle.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
