I've used a few over the years in a few projects. They have improved quite a bit in the last 5 years. In earlier software, you would have to train the software by repeating numerous words over and over.
Most software seemed to ask you to repeat a word more than it actually typed one out. Now, speech recognition software is quite a bit more accurate. You still have to train the software by announcing words a few times, but they are much more efficient.
They are also able to handle much more variation of the voice than earlier versions. I currently play around with Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 Standard and am quite impressed with it. Though I do love playing around with this version and a few other speech recognition programs, I still type out everything of importance.
I'm a pretty fast typist, and actually find it a bit therapeautic. Perhaps if I were a lot slower at typing, I would use Dragon for everything. After reading your question and answering, I'm a bit more motivated to use Dragon.
I think I'll try refrain from typing anything at all tomorrow and use Dragon instead. You probably weren't dreaming. :) Take care.
I tried years ago, but it was more trouble than it was worth. It may be better now. Still, I type 100 words per minute, so I'm happy sticking with typing!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
