In my opinion, bangs are not in. Right now growing the bags out and then styling them over to the side, is in. It sound like you are in the process of growing the bangs out, but perhaps they are at that awkward stage.
During the awkward stage you can simply pull the bangs back or to the side and clip with a fabulous rhinestone clip. It can be irritating when the bangs hang directly in the eyes. Hang in there, the awkward stage does not last too long.
Some people thing bangs look good on some people. I just think people look better without. It can be a personal preference, as well.
Try growing the bangs out. Ghlights and low lights are in, as well. Doing more extreme low lights or highlights on the hair surrounding the face is in.
Once the bangs have grown, sweep the bangs to the side. Your hair will be alot easier to do. With the highlights or low lights surrounding the face, your style will pop!
With that being said, never be afraid to talk to your stylist. Have her make some suggestions. She can see you in person, feel your hair texture and see your face.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
