Are Christians supposed to obey the 10 Commandments?

Yes but the "10 commandments" are abriged, the original commandments from Moses included over 600 such commandments, they are a core value and principle of the Christian faith, and I believe punishable by an eternity in hell if one does not repent and strive to no longer break these commandments.

It may have changed in the 2nd century. I need to refresh my history on it. I was a Christian most of my life, and cant remember.

Most do not keep the Sabith holy because they have no idea what the sabith is. Saturday is the correct answer. It was changed by the catholic church in the 14th century if I am not mistaken, to cater to pagans.

They thought it would help bring converts if the day they worship on was kept the same, a direct violation of the commandments by the church. Now through the years it is diluted so that most do not know when the sabith actually is.

As a muslim our weekend is friday and saturday. You worship friday, so you can do as the lord commanded on saturday, and do no work.

Blah, if you was going to pay attention to the 10 commandments, you may as well pay attention to the other 400 commandments that are in the bible, and if you was goign to do that, then going to the toilet is a sin.

The best way to view things is, if you go through life with good intentions, and do things because you trully believe it is the right thing today, then you are trully a good person and will be rewarded in this life or the next.

But doing things because someone else has dictated it to you is just daft, doing good because soem one else told you doesn't make you a good person, just a follower, do good because you want to do good is the preferable option.

Also in Deuteronomy you will find a law that states, 'if a woman is raped within the walls of a city, and she doesn't cry out for help, she is to be stoned to death along with the rapist. Fact (read your Bible).

In Exodus Moses conveys a command from God to Joshua to the effect that - when Joshua's forces attack Canaanite cities: such as Jericho, they are to slaughter every living soul therein. No. I believe there are no rules. Rules are made up by people in order gain control in a world, which they fear is otherwise out of control.

But in reality, there really are no rules, we can do what we want, its only our conscience, fear of prison, fear of rejection, compassion and care of others that stops us from doing immoral, hurtful, cruel and evil things to other humans. I believe that even if the 10 commandments and laws of the land didn't exist, human conscience would prevent 99.9% of the population from over stepping the mark anyway.

Yes, the Ten commandments is giving to the children of God. Therefore, all good Christians should strive to obey it.

If some obey only the 4th commandment and throw the other 9 into trash bin then, they are not being obedient.

Well, if you are a 7th Day Christian or a Jew you keep it because this Day is Commanded by God. Now with Grace and the Spirit of righteousness in us we will keep it in the Spirit of the Law, Romans 8:1-4.

We know that Jesus Christ kept it and taught that none of his Commandments where done away with including the 4th Commandment, Matth ew 5:17-18, Luke 4:16.

Sunday was not a weekly day of worship until the 2nd century.

Sunday is worshipped a a gift to pagans by the Catholic Church to follow them. Protestant churches keep Sunday because they understand it is a gift from the Roman Catholic Church. Martin Luther kept Sunday because he was a Catholic.

Sunday was usually an annual day of worship once a year around Christmas time, but in 135 A.D., Emperor Hadrian of Rome started to keep it as a day of worship once a week dedicated to the pagan sun god, Mithra, to replace the 7th Day Sabbath. He banded Jews and including 7th Day Christians from Rome and forbade them to keep he 7th Day..

Later in the 4th century Constantine made Sunday the official Day for Christianity in Rome. This is where Sunday as a "Christian" day got its start.

Jesus Christ never changed this Day, Hebrews 13:8, which still pictures the coming Millenium as a Day of rest with God, Genesis 2:2-3. And is encouraged by the Holy Spirit to be kept in Hebrews 4:4-12. Remember God said to keep it Holy, Exodus 20:8-11.

You will be blessed if you keep it.

It will be finally restored in the Millenium again when Jesus returns, Isaiah 66:22-23, Leviticus 23, as statutes forever.

In the OT the nation of Israel was punished for not keeping it but when they are redeemed they to will keep it, Romans 11:26..

For many centuries God's people kept the Sabbath and were persecute because the world in general would not keep it. It preferred man's pagan days. After Christ comes everyone will have to keep it because any other Day will not be tolerated By God.

Then we will have peace on earth, Malachi 3:6 because God still wants us to keep the Sabbath Day Holy, Revelation 22:10-15. It's all a matter of which reward you want!

Yes, but the whole Law even is Fulfilled in Christ (Matthew 5) and comes to an end in Christ for all who Believe (Romans 10) and yet we uphold the Law (Romans 3) and yet we have the New Laws of Christ, Faith, Love, Spirit of Life etc. (Galatians 6; Romans 8) and we fulfill the Law by Loving our neighbor for Love fulfills the Law by doing it's neighbor no harm (Romans 13). Also, the Sabbath, Paul said let no one judge you in regard to a new moon, the sabbath, a religious festival, etc. For these things are a shadow of the things to come but the body/substance is Christ, Colossians 2.

And Jesus said that the Sabbath was made for man not man for the sabbath and that He is the Lord of the sabbath, He is our Sabbath rest, Gospels.

Yeah, I don't see why the other nine would still apply and the others wouldn't. But then I think a lot of Christian faiths are watering things down and calling it 'tolerance' - whatever the sin of choice may be :). I've also encountered tons of people who claim a certain faith (probably by familial tradition) and know next to nothing about it.

I am a person of faith - and I would expect that if trends continue, most people will justify away the God their parents worshiped 25 years ago so that they are left only worshiping the trends of what God is - which, to be frank, I think is useless.

The Law of Moses came about in Deuteronomy, which means “Second Law” in Greek. While this includes the Law of God (the 10), it is a total of 613 laws. Jesus did keep every one of them, in order that He would fulfill them (Mat 5:18) and forever accomplish all that God required of that ‘Old Covenant’ (Heb 7:28).

We are to keep the 10, but the Old Covenant is replaced by the New Covenant in for a death has occurred (the death of Christ Jesus), meaning we are freed from the Law of Moses (Rom 7:1-4).

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
