They very well might be but for the most part and from the regular contributors here in Mahalo Answers we are legit and asking and answering questions for our own "non homework" reasons. We do occasionally get @anonymous questions that can be easily spotted as homework questions, some folks answer them and answer them well and some other folks still might answer them but knowing they are homework might not give a complete or easily plagiarized answer. You might be asking specifically about @davepamn and his "essay" questions, I have been working with @davepamn for over a year now and I assure you he is not doing homework and is just simply the most curious and information driven individual we will likely ever know.
We use this plagiarism checker a lot here to check for the copy/pasted answers dustball.com/cs/plagiarism.checker/ and I would think most middle or high school teachers and all university/college professors use this one or one like it to prevent the plagiarized essay assignment. I am just a nerd who likes to read short stories, especially when they are not written by published authors. I cant speak for the others but I'm guessing they are doing the same.
Plus a fantasy, or short story essay has to be the most fun you can have at school, why would you want someone else to write it then copy and paste it?!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
