There are numerous colleges in both Queens and Brooklyn, New York. Some are City or State (CUNY or SUNY) colleges, and those are the least expensive. Others are private, and far more costly.
The average tuition for a CUNY college is about $2,500 per semester. In Queens, the CUNY schools are LaGuardia, Queens College, York College, and Queensborough Community. The SUNY schools include Queens Maritime, and SUNY College of Optometry.
The most notable private college in Queens would be Saint John's University. In Brooklyn, the CUNY schools are Brooklyn College, Medgar Evers, and City Tech. SUNY Downstate Medical is an option in the State system.
Private institutions include Saint Joseph's College, Saint Francis College, Long Island University, Brooklyn and Pratt Institute. The private universities and colleges can run well over $25,000 per academic year.

It's one of the largest colleges in CUNY (City University of New York), and one of the most highly regarded. In 2007 the Newsweek Kaplan College Guide named Queens College one of the 25 hottest colleges in the U.S. -- specifically "Hottest for First-Generation Students."
It's often been cited as a great value for its relatively low tuition. Located in Flushing, the campus sports 77 acres and 17,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
