Are thier any viable alternatives to capitalism, that are not extremes of the political spectrum?

Yes there is. A form of government that allows any and all the same income as the next person. It would be nice to live in a country where people do jobs because they want to and not just to make money.

I would have to say an alternative maybe just to allow various economies to exist, the whole world doesn't have to be capitalist, if on a local level a community wants to practice a bartering economy and it works for them, so be it. I don't know if I explain this well but a good book about what im talking about is "A post-capitalist politics" by J.K. Gibson-Graham.

We had laissez faire capitalism for the first hundred years of our republic's existence. It ended with the collapse of our financial institutions in 1893 and again in 1929. A viable alternative to capitalism is capitalism without war and conquest.

Focus on trade and stop focusing on stealing resources from other countries or trying to control the global market.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
