Finally, after 30 days, the major networks are beginning to pick up on this. Bush would not have been given this much time to solve a crisis like this- unbelievable how even Obama is outlasting his graces with the media. Bertrand is right that this situation is different- but if anything that makes Obama more responsible.
New Orleans and Louisiana's government had 2 weeks to order an evacuation, which is local govt's role. However, an oil spill falls under federal jurisdiction immediately- and both BP and the federal government did not follow their plan of action for such crises.
Helping people out of a flood zone is a lot different then pumping out millions of gallons of oil from the gulf. You're comparing apples and oranges. And remember that Hurricane Katrina was being monitored for about 2 weeks before it hit the coast of Louisiana.
Bush had two weeks to help prepare if he wanted. Obama is dealing with an out of nowhere incident. Could Obama have dealt with this better?
Yes. Could Bush have dealt with Katrina better? Oh absolutely.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
