Fascism- A political regime (Republican party), having totalitarian aspirations (Patriot Act, domestic spying), ideologically based on a relationship between business and the centralized government (Medicare prescription drug benefit that didn't allow government to negotiate prices), business-and-government control of the market place (Pres. Bush started the bank bailouts, tariffs on steel, tax breaks for record-breaking profit oil industry), repression of criticism or opposition (arguing against Iraq War = against the troops, against Patriot Act = comfort to enemy), ideology above individual rights (school prayer, gay marriage, limiting damages in court cases, Terry Schiavo) UPDATE: Funny thing about your question is that you may have correctly defined fascism but then you sought to apply the term to present day events. Your analysis of current events is no more accurate than the one I present.

If we are equally correct in our assessments (yours that Democrats are fascist and mine that Republicans are) then neither opinion is really of value.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
