The Grimm Brothers just collected stores - I doubt they asked where they came from. They even had a really short version of "Alibaba and The 40 Thieves" in their list of stores which probably came back from the Holy Land during the Crusades. Unfortunately the Grimm Brothers were too good to actually go talk to poor people and collect stories - they only got them second hand from other people who collected them.
And then later they even rewrote them to "clean them up" and get all the interesting sexual stuff out of them. The Grimm Brothers are a very poor source for this sort of literature - but in our Western Tradition, we don't seem to keep track of fairy tales very well.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
