Askville/Amazon gift cards we received....will we have to pay income taxes on the amount we were paid?

If they were gifts, the people who gave them to you would have to pay a gift tax if each gave you over $13,000, or over $26,000 from a married couple. How much were the gift cards? .

Oh, forget about it! Even if they were income, you don't have to report anything under $600! .

I don't remember, but doesn't seem like they did, probably because they didn't pay many, if any, over the $600. We have to give our SS# for Mturk to be paid there, so obviously they will report that income to the IRS if it's over the minimum. I think legally we probably have to--it's income, after all, right?

But it went into a gift card, not our bank account....hmmm...I'm no tax expert here--far from it! It's one of those complicated things that I just detest...taxes! Bah, humbug!

Aha, Poppet, you nailed it! If they don't have our SS# then they can't send us an 'earnings' statement (with a copy sent to the IRS). All I know is, I had a lot of fun spending it...LOL HELENofTROY 11 months ago .

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
