At what age would you allow your child to open up his/her own email account?

10 is fine as long as you have the password and are in the room with the child when they surf. Too many to the kids can beat the parental software these days once they learn about the computer.

Once your child either has their own computer, or starts to interact with friends or the like, I think that an email is appropriate. You can set up the email account with them, and ensure you know the passwords so that you can have access to it if necessary. Also with an understanding that they are allowed to have this privilege, so long as they don't abuse it.

Also, for young children using a computer, you may want to look into the many safety programs available to control online content. I use Family Safety for Windows Live. Once you have a Live email account, you can use this service FREE.It allows you to see all the sites your child visits, and if they want access to a site that is blocked, they can request it through an email!

Or, they can come to you directly. It works great! However my son gets a tad frustrated at times.

But I'd rather have that than him having access to some of the horrible content out there.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
