The 1st Christians were nothing like the Christians of today. False teachers called apostates started to infiltrate the first century churches not 20 years after Jesus died. In fact Paul was dealing with these false Christians himself.
By the time the last apostle died the Christian religion was barely recognized as the religion that Jesus and the apostles taught. False teachers brought in pagan teachings and doctrines. This was prophecised to happen by Jesus himself.
It was called the great apostasy. There were still people left who worshipped with truth but they were quickly scattered and outnumbered. In fact these false teachers excommunicated the real Christians out of the churches.
You can see these teachings in all of the religions of the world today. The trinity, hellfire and immortal soul are three pagan doctrines. The celebrating of Christmas, New Year's, Halloween, Easter are all very pagan celebrations.
But a little over a hundred years ago God began to show certain people the truth. These people were dedicated to finding out the truth of these traditions and how the Christian religion was really practiced in the first century. These people gradually became aware of all the false teachings in the Christian religion and started to spread the truth about these teachings to others.
It started with only a few people and has grown to over 8 million now. Jehovah is calling all his people together to join him in the restored paradise earth. But first Armageddon and then paradise.
All honest hearted ones who sincerely want to worship God truthfully will be saved during this war. They are now warning people of the coming destruction of evil mankind and a hope for the future. Just like Noah and his family warned people of that day.
Sadly, most people will not listen. For more info go to jw.org.
