To Dice, You are right when you write that Christian don't understand The Big Bang, and that they are idiots, that much is true. However unfortunately neither do you, that evidence when you write: "The big bang was the beginning of THIS universe not existence itself." And, that steps right on the broader problem in science that you are complete unaware of yourself.
Science is not religion, that I'm sure is clear to you, but I'm afraid it's not clear enough. We all know what religion is, people claiming to connected in some way to the divine teach tell others to believe this or that and so the believers believe without question. The Believers don't have to even understand their newly found faith, they merely claim they believe and its done.
This experience with religion should completely opposite in science. Some people, believe that all they have to say is science goes by evidence and that's it, as if they passed a litmus test of science by such claim. But that doesn't even scratch the surface of what is genuine science, in fact it doesn't even come close to what should be so as genuine science attitude.
Students often come to school with the complete wrong attitude, they think that have merely answer the questions and VoilĂ its done, they cram for tests, and even cheat for answers. On the very day leading up to the test, you can see the in the room before the teacher comes, asking each other for the answers that they do not know themselves. Does it qualify them for their degree?
I think not, in truth they're no more qualified than when they first enter college, whatever degrees they have they can use them for toilet paper but they aren't genuine in my books. To me, and in any class I will ever run they will have to genuine understand what they are being taught from its elementary principles to its finished product, or I will F their @ss to retard school. It is not important to me where they get the answers right but whether they understand what it's about.
I intend to be a science teacher at the graduate school level. When I start a class I will give everyone the answers that will be on the test, the only catch is that they have to reproduce it from memory and convince me that they understand why it is the way it is, or I will never pass them. Not because of them but because of me, I don't want anyone to ever say that some student of mine pass who had his @ss tied on backwards because then someone might think I have my @ss tied on backward in science, and Homie don't play that game.
The reason why some confused scientists believe The Origin of The Big Bang was not the beginning of space & time itself is because of the multiverse, or because of professor Krauss' hypothesis of a Partial Origin Theory, partial because it does not explain the origin of either space or time and so is by default a failure of origin. The multiverse claims extra spatial dimensions and indulges us to use our imagination. Often lines are drawn which are completely map-able by ordinary 3-dimensional Cartesian coordinates and thus are unqualified as extra spatial, CMR asymmetries are used as proof which again show completely ordinary directionality.
A scientist must always be from Missouri, they must all say: "Show Me In Detail? " Your assumptions are incorrect, when mankind loose sight that he is merely a primate, he evidently makes mistakes. If you want the details of those mistakes read my writings in science questions on Yahoo, especial the older ones since I have stopped writing about my passion in science because Yahoo Answer couldn't measure to the task.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
