I have been backing up my DVDs as MPEG4 files to stream to my soon to arrive xbox 360. So far....so good. MCE plays the files perfectly.
I backed up a concert DVD and the audio was PCM. When I converted to MPEG4, the video plays fine but the audio is white noise. I re-tried the process but with same result.
Any ideas on how to get the audio into a format Win MCE can play? (same result with WinDVD & PowerDVD) Asked by terrymac 54 months ago Similar questions: Backing DVD PCM audio Computers > Hardware > Desktops & Laptops.
A couple of suggestions First off, WinDVD and PowerDVD are great for watching DVDs on your computer, but they're not the best choice for MPEG-4 files. Try a better player like VLC:videolan.org/vlc/Second, what have you been using to convert your files? The problem you're experiencing really has nothing to do with Windows but with your conversion program.
I'd suggest using AutoGK. Here's the link to learn more about it:http://www.autogk.me.uk/And a link to a direct download:http://www.autogk.me.uk/index.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=1Both the above are free and excellent tools. They have worked perfectly for me for years.
I generally use Zoom Player for watching videos, and it's a great player, too, but VLC is a little more straightforward and handles actual DVD files better, so that's why I suggested it. But I believe you'd need to use the Zune software to stream from an Xbox anyway. You can learn more about it from this site:http://www.zune.net/en-US/Good luck and I hope the above helps!

Use AutoGK, TVersity, or Videora Xbox 360 converter, or convert the audio stream before feeding it into VOB2MPG. Auto Gordian Knot is a very straightforward program to convert common video formats (including VOBs from a DVD) to DivX/XviD, which are implementations of MPEG-4. It claims to support PCM audio streams in the input, although I haven't tried that myself.
I've used AutoGK many times, and it's my first suggestion for any MPEG-4 conversion. However, the files it produces are AVIs, and those codecs use the Advanced Simple Profile instead of the plain Simple Profile. I don't own a 360, but from what I've read, even with the latest update, the 360 may still not be able to play these files. In that case, you have a few options... Use TVersity TVersity is a transcoder that runs on your PC and converts video files to a format supported by the 360 in real time.
(It also shares photos and allows you to watch live video streams. ) This should let you play the video files produced by AutoGK, as well as any others you might find online. Try another MPEG-4 converter Perhaps something like Videora Xbox 360 Converter, which is designed to produce files in a format the 360 can play.
You might be able to convert directly from the DVD rip if you can get the movie all in one VOB first, using settings like "IFO mode" or "No file splitting" in your decrypter. Otherwise, you can convert a file produced by AutoGK or some other program. Convert the PCM to MPEG audio first This will give you the best video quality, but it's also the most involved.
First, try to get the video you want all in one VOB. Then, open it in DGIndex.(If you have multiple VOBs, you can stitch them together by adding them all in order.) On the Audio menu, set the output method to "demux tracks", then go to the File menu and select "Save project and demux video". This will take a few minutes to produce a project file (.d2v, which you can throw away) and some similarly named files for the video and audio parts: .
M2v for the video and probably . Wav for the PCM audio. Once that's done, convert the audio track into a format that your converter supports, like .
Mpa (MPEG layer 2). BeSweet is a powerful tool for this, but you might find something simpler. Finally, open up TMPGEnc and use the File|MPEG Tools|Simple Multiplex feature to combine the .
M2v video with the converted . Mpa audio. This will take a few more minutes and produce an .
Mpg file, which you should be able to feed into any MPEG-4 converter without trouble. Sources: Google, videohelp. Com, and experience .
1 I don't think I got a fair rating here. My answer addressed the Xbox 360's video capabilities, with an explanation of how to play AutoGK-produced files on a 360, a suggestion for another converter that will make files the 360 can play directly, and finally a method for making PCM audio work with the converter you're already using. The other answer did not address the 360's video capabilities, it just suggested AutoGK, which (as I explained) will not produce files that work directly with a 360.It said the Zune software was necessary for streaming to an Xbox 360, which is incorrect.
And yet it got a better rating and the best answer ribbon.

2 I did quite extensive follow up with the asker via PMs, and I only ended up with a Good. Are you sure Zune isn't necessary, because what I read suggested it would be. As for the rest, I'd agree you didn't end up with a fair rating.

3 According to videora.com/en-us/Converter/Xbox360/vide... you only need Windows Media Center. The 360 acts as a Media Center Extender, a feature that's been available in set top boxes for a while and requires a PC running Media Center. I don't think the Zune software includes Media Center - I don't own a Zune, but from what I can tell, its software is just a reskinned Windows Media Player.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
