Barack Obama won over Mitt Romney in second presidential debate, do you agree?

This question- or rather the answers to it- illustrate much of the problems with American politics. From the answers, you can see how people adjust their logic and reason to be able to argue for whatever they want to believe. Legitimate facts have almost no impact on this phenomenon- they just select the sound bites or claims from some talking head that they like, and then it becomes fact to them.

They do the same thing with the opposing candidate, just in reverse so that one side is totally evil and the other a savior. Thus, we continue to elect politicians who are unfit for dogcatcher, let alone congress. When we do elect one who really wants to lead, he's stonewalled by the politicians who want things to stay as they are so they can line their pockets, and vilified by the voters who want all problems solved without any expense or inconvenience to them.

Unfortunately, the numbers of such people are huge. We don't need photo ID's to qualify voters. We need a mental test for rationality and common sense.

POGO: "We have seen the enemy, and he is us".

Romney will answer in order to use the phrasing to his advantage- not to reveal truth. Political questions are often very misleading. Four years ago, the economy was just moving into the huge crash initiated by the mortgage breakdown.

That breakdown had it's base in revisions of banking laws- things done under the GW Bush administration, as well as some prior. Obama takes office just as the crash is coming down full force. No, most people are not better off than they were four years ago (pre-crash), but the real relevance is lost when you use that comparison as a judge of current administration.

Take the airline flight that landed in the Hudson a few years ago. You could ask them a similar question. They didn't reach their objective, their destination.

So- did the pilot fail them, or save them? Obama didn't initiate this crisis- republicans did. And of course, republicans have been trying to block all rescue efforts for four years in order to say "The captain failed to deliver us" in this election.

The geese that brought down flight 1549 has no malicious intent, that was an accident. Bringing congress to a halt was intentional sabotage. The right question is who got in this mess in the first place, and who is responsible for keeping us here?

I doubt that question will be asked, and if it were- it wouldn't be answered.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
