For shame, indeed. :P BQ1: Pink Floyd, the greatest prog band that ever lived. BQ2: "Us and Them" EDIT: Then that's something we're not gonna agree on.

And actually, I have heard BTBAM and no, they're not my cup of tea but I do find them a lot more tolerable than Opeth. EDIT2: Oh, so they are. Forgive my word-blindness, now I feel foolish.Sorry.

^^; And exactly, progressive DEATH metal; death metal with prog influence. In my opinion, it's not fair to pair those bands with actual progressive metal bands because it's not true progressive metal. That's just my views, you don't have to agree and I'm not trying to be a nazi either.

Just speaking my mind.

The Innovators (proto-progressive rock): The Beatles The Doors Deep Purple Led Zeppelin The First Wave (early eclectic progressive rock): King Crimson Space Cadets (early space rock): David Bowie Bring on the symphony! Im gonna delete my answer because my answer is too big to be seen, so ill just give you the reply to your statement as an edit. **first off, if im an entity that causes you to drink, you need to open your eyes to some sunlight son. Second of all, I took the time into reading some of those links you provided and didn't really convince me otherwise. So if a website decides to create a made up term called "prog-related" everything is tagged another way?

Lol. "Not all of the bands that have been a part of the history and development of progressive rock are necessarily progressive rock bands themselves." -that line itself is a contradictory. "This is why progarchives has included a genre called prog-related" -so they can call irrelevant artists progressive rock and thats that?

Just because it's on the internet doesn't make it true, it takes an ear to tell what kind of music contains jazz-like improvisation and progressive technicalities to determine progressive rock, not a mouth that labels bands. Just because they were developing progressive rock into a more diverse genre, doesn't mean they play, perform, write, compose, etc.. progressive rock in any way. Even though I stated this as a contradictory before, it still would be useless because "prog-related" isn't a genre, it just means bands that supposedly "helped" diversify the term, it doesn't make their music any different.

If say, The Doors actually did help diversify progressive rock in very proto outcomes, it's still basic knowledge to any music head that it doesn't mean The Doors themselves are prog in any way, they are still irrelevant and they should be unmentioned, just like the 50% of mediocre bands you mentioned here today. However you did open my eyes, that progarchives is just as, if not more pathetic than metalarchives.

I'm just disappointed Meshuggah wasn't on this list. :( Then again, there aren't exactly any bands they can really be matched up against....

Oh poopies. I was actually thinking of doing one of these, but was afraid there'd be an extreme lack of answers, like in most of my questions. NOBERDY LAIK DUH SHERP.Anywho... THE INNOVATORS The Moody Blues (na na na I prefer them progressively.) Jimi Hendrix Experience Deep Purple Black Sabbath (although I prefer Led Zep progressively!

) THE FIRST WAVE Van der Graaf Generator (not too big on King Crimson; I can get into VDDG more easily) SPACE CADETS Pink Floyd (easily for me :/) SYMPHONIC PROGRESSIVE ROCK (one of my favorite sub genres) Genesis (only hard one for me so far) Gentle Giant Yes Kansas THE ODD-BALLS Jethro Tull (I'm only just being introduced to Zappa; so far, Tull surpasses Zappa IMO) SYNTH-HEAVY CROSSOVER The Alan Parsons Project WHO INVITED YOU? Uriah Heep NEO-PROG Marillion (contains one of my favorite bassists, Pete Trewavas) PROTO-PROGRESSIVE METAL Iron Maiden Queensryche '90S PROG Tool (although I absolutely despise them, I dislike Soundgarden more) Faith No More MODERN PROGRESSIVE ROCK Ayreon (another hard one for me, both amazing..) Riverside (although I can't really get into either) NO. Hate both here.

Go away.Shoo. BLEH. Oceansize MODERN PROGRESSIVE METAL Dream Theater (still love them despite abandoning Portnoy) Between the Buried and Me (dislike both, but whatever) Pain of Salvation Mastodon (couldn't get into The Mars Volta no matter how hard I tried) BQ: Ayreon, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes.

BQ2: LOL. "Time" by Pink Floyd. BQ3: sure.

We've got a nice selection of grass here at the farm. HEEHEE.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
