Blackberry - platform version and software version?

You can use this method to get the version of almost every black berry device.

From the DeviceInfo javadocs, you can see that the DeviceInfo. GetPlatformVersion() method is available in OS 4.0.0 and higher, whereas the DeviceInfo. GetSoftwareVersion() method is available in OS 4.3.0 and higher.

So if you're compiling with JDE 4.3 but trying to run it on a device simulator with an OS version lower than 4.3, you're going to run into problems.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
