Sometimes rats just don't like to be handled, you just got to keep trying. Hand them as much as you can. If they are biting, then do what my mom did.
Take an old glove you never use and handle them with that. If they try to bite you they will just bite the glove. And every time they bite the glove, give them kisses, it helps to socialize them more.
P.s. Carrots are great for them, keep up the good work!
They just need time to get used to you. Pet store rats don't really get petted and played with that often. They need to know that you're a good person, a provider of treats and a nice petter.
Give them some more time and before you know they'll come when they see you calling. Just keep stroking them gently, talking to them, calling them by name when you give them treats. You can give them other treats - grapes, peas, pieces of apple, pieces of banana, broccoli... Just keep the serving sizes small.
They can eat a tiny piece of meat or cooked chicken bones occasionally (once every few weeks), a dab of yogurt, bread, Cheeriors, dog biscuits, cooked pasta or cooked rice. Make sure that no more than 10% of their diet is fruits/vegetables and that their main food is lab blocks or rat-specific food. They can't live on food that's mostly seeds or hamster food.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
