Beauty fades, but high intelligence is no bed of roses either. Be thankful and enjoy what you have. I would take brains.

They only improve over time, especially with a little education. Also, I think, people who consider you "just another pretty face" tend not to value you for yourself as much as people who admire you for your intelligence. That said, I should point out that brains are not an automatic free ride to wealth.

They increase the odds of succeeding at whatever you set out to do, but they don’t guarantee anything. In fact, they often get in the way, raising ethical questions, and existential doubts, etc. Besides, there are limits to how much beauty you can buy for yourself. Wealth does seem to attract beautiful people--which is why having wealth is almost as good as being attractive yourself.

On the other hand, wealth also attracts a somewhat less wholesome sort of people--flatterers, seducers and guileful hangers-on, against whom high intelligence offers no particular immunity. A very bright friend of mine used to say, "gh intelligence is the booby prize of life." It does not necessarily make you a sane or sensible person.

Nor, does high intelligence necessarily make you gracious, cheerful, easy-going, or likable. Nor, does it make you athletic, affable, charismatic, or courageous. It does not make you a graceful dancer, a good kisser or a good parent. Gh intelligence sometimes allows you to see through the illusions that other people anxiously cling to and regard as essential to their lives, so you always have to be careful what you say, or they will burn you at the stake or pass you a cup of hemlock.

Of course, very intelligent people can have their blind spots too. They are naturally prone to rationalization, to over-confidence, to arrogance, and the vanities of intellectual conviction. Often, they become focused on the big picture and overlook the snake in the grass.

Work is a particular hell for the very intelligent, since it invariably involves being bossed around by somebody less intelligent than yourself, being hassled for not showing up precisely at 8:00 AM, to conduct evaluation research on something that, if the truth be told, nobody is really interested in being honestly evaluated. People say they admire intelligence, but they really don’t. People don’t trust what they don’t understand.

They don’t like being made to work, and they especially do not like being made to reconsider established ideas or ways of doing things. They hate having the flaws in their thinking pointed out, or being reminded of the limits of their knowledge and understanding. To be beautiful, on the other hand, is to be able to charm.

And, in this respect, charming people seem to have an easier time of it--but, in my view, too easy.An intelligent person has to plot and scheme to commit the perfect crime, a beautiful charming person simply does it, and everyone simply forgives them. I exaggerate, but you get the idea. The main challenge in beauty is putting up with people who like you more than you like them; maintaining your sense of self as other people project their needs, desires and fantasies on to you; coping with the perplexities of shallowness; and, or course, trying to forstall the inevitable diaster when your charms begin to fade.

Intelligence is the harder road, the road less traveled, but it is the one where you can help the most people--if people will let you. Beauty and intelligence my be celebrated gifts, but they extract a price in return. Being able to enjoy life, being at ease in your own skin, being generous of spirit and a consolation to others, and having the courage to face life every day, these are the gifts that count.Be thankful and use the gifts you have, and do not envy the brilliant and the beautiful.

An IQ of 160! There’s just too much work and pressure into achieving and maintaining physical beauty. Then as time passes all efforts to remain looking young and beautiful are in vain.

Not so with intelligence which often increases with age. So to quote Judge Judy, "beauty fades...dumb is forever"! :) Sources: Personal opinion Seasons's Recommendations Beauty Fades, Dumb Is Forever: The Making of a Happy Woman Amazon List Price: $12.00 Used from: $2.80 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (based on 55 reviews) .

Brains, of course That isn't much different from the arrangement I have now. Brains, but not beauty. My IQ isn't quite 160 (about 140), but...

Brains Looks fade with age, even if you are beautiful at 20-30, you won't be hot at 50 compared to the 20-30 year old. Brains work your whole life, or at least a lot longer than you stay beautiful.
