It really depends if the dog is going to have an outdoor space to run around or will mostly be walked on a leash when someone is available to do that and how often someone will be in the house with them (or maybe mom and dad will go for two so they can keep each other company). Some dogs do better being left alone for long periods, others don't like to be alone - actually most don't like to be alone for long periods of time - and consider that in 5 years, you're going away to college somewhere and that dog is going to live at least another 5 years after that. And some really need a lot of exercise and play to get all their energy out.
Goldens are wonderful dogs but they do like a lot of running around and outdoor time and are not that great if someone isn't home a good deal of the day. I love dogs but they are really for people that can provide a lot of attention and play and that are not gone for long periods or for people that can afford to get two. If someone is not going to be home during the day and the dog will be alone for more than 4-6 hours a day, you might consider a cat instead.
They only need to be fed and either to be let out or have a litter box and some water.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
