They have colonial mentality. They greatly over exaggerate the white population of Latin Americans, specially Mexicans, because thy think that makes them better. It comes from the Spanish colonial caste system that placed whites on top of the social ladder and people of lessening degrees of white blood lower and lower down the social ladder.

So as a result a way of thinking exists in much of Latin America, called colonial mentality, which is viewing whites as superior culturally, physically, etc. Most Mexicans are Native American or a mix of white and Native American. Only 10% are white. But there will be no shortage of people on here saying that most Mexicans are white or white looking mixed people.
