My little guy wants to play basketball with his daddy so badly, but he can only get the ball up about 4 or 5 feet. I know there are the little plastic sets for munchins out there, but I would really prefer to get a real hoop that can be adjusted and grow with him. I'm not even sure if anything like this exists.
I might just have to get out in the shop and get creative. It would be a lot easier to buy, however. Is anyone familiar with something like I'm describing? Can you make any recommendations?
Obviously, I'm not a sports enthusiast, so I'm clueless. I'm just glad my little guy seems to have inherited his father's athletic tendencies rather than my clumsiness. Act now while supplies last. Best Selling Driveway Basketball GoalIf the Platinum doesn't fit your budget or is just more than you want this system is your answer. It delivers the best value from our Pro Dunk line, fits comfortably in most driveways, and is our best selling driveway basketball system. BackboardTo help you decide between a tempered glass and acrylic backboard, we have put together this guide.
In our 20 years of experience, we have found that a tempered glass backboard is the most valuable feature on the basketball hoop. We strongly encourage choosing tempered glass backboards because of their superior play and durability. If you are looking for an economical solution, the clear acrylic boards offer an outstanding professional look at a more affordable price.
The acrylic backboard is a full 1/2" inch thick and is supported by a heavy-duty aluminum frame that's supported at the corners with steel supports for added rigidity. Height AdjustabilityThe basketball system is infinitely height adjustable from 5' feet in rim height to a regulation 10'. When installed the height meter is custom set for your playing surface to ensure the height is precise unlike several competitors.
Height adjustment with our spring balanced lift assist mechanism is so effortless to adjust that a 5 year old child can easily and safely raise and lower the hoop.It is also mounted low enough for young children to easily use. For a demonstration of the lift assist mechanism in action, click here. InstallationThe installation of this height-adjustable, in-ground basketball hoop is one of the easiest and safest on the market.
The exceptional engineering along with our 20 years of installation experience ensure you will be successful. Eight main bolts are all that is required to complete the installation. The backboard and rim can be installed at chest height without the use of ladders by lowering the arms to 5'.
To make the installation as easy as possible we have preinstalled the "H" bracket and backboard padding for you reducing your installation time by 20%! We have also implemented an innovative pier system (view demonstration) that makes leveling a cinch and portability an easy possibility. See the installation instructions for a detailed, easy to follow explanation.
DurabilityThis hoop was designed to hold up in brutal weather conditions. It takes advantage of a durable powder coat finish (learn about powder coating) that resists scratches and keeps corrosives away from the steel. We also use stainless steel fasteners to reduce rusting.
You will not have to worry about ugly rust streaks or weakening bolts (view example). You will also see a tremendous amount of rigidity from the thick one-piece 7 gauge pole. The professional quality break-away rim will hold up to dunking and hanging unlike flimsily static alternatives.
FREE Padding! Backboard, pole and gusset padding is included with this system. The backboard padding is built using our exclusive molding process that incorporates a steel insert which gives strength at all mounting locations (fasteners can not pull out).
The excellent water resistant urethane skinned surface and high density urethane foam gives superior durability and protection for young and elite players. Lifetime WarrantyThis system is backed by our limited lifetime warranty as all Pro Dunk® basketball systems are. We are confident you will find your hoop to be durable, long lasting and endure a lifetime of aggressive play.
Unlike other systems the Pro Dunk® systems were designed with dunking in mind. You will not void you warranty when dunking and hanging on a Pro Dunk® rim. For complete warranty information click here.
Technical SpecificationsGlass Backboard Size: 60" x 36" x 3/8" Acrylic Backboard Size: 60" x 36" x 1/2" Pole Size: 5" x 5" x 3/16" Extension Arm Length: 4' Adjustability: 5' to 10' ---------------------------------Something else to consider, though:http://www.basketballhoopsunlimited.com/store/Scripts/openExtra.asp?extra=10FREQUENTLY ASK QUESTIONS Q: Why do Bison hoops lower to 7-1/2 feet while some other brands advertise as low as 5 feet? A: Bison puts customer safety at the top of the list when designing products. ASTM standards for adjustable basketball systems prohibits adjustment below 7 1/2 feet for customer safety.
Severe dental injuries although rare can occur if teeth/braces get caught in the net. Hoops that can be adjusted below 7 1/2 feet are officially considered dangerous. Bison builds their hoops to ASTM standards as do other responsible basketball equipment manufacturers. In youth Park/Rec and League play kids start out at 8 feet and move up from there.
Even 4 and 5 year olds can easily make shots on a 7 1/2 foot hoop with the right size ball. Kids grow fast and will soon be mostly shooting at a 10 foot hoop. We recommend safety first.

1 newbie1544448, regarding your answer "It's available, but very expensive if you need to go down to 5'. 7.5'-10' are more moderately priced": Wow, thanks so much. That is some great info that I hadn't even considered.
Given the price and the fact that my little guy is only 3, I'm thinking I should wait. : ) Thanks again for all of the fantastic info.

2 Even though you're not interested in the "little plastic sets for munchkins" I thought I'd name the one that I DO NOT reccommend: little tikes NBA. It has a clear backboard that broke the first time it blew over. And now has almost totally come off.
We have not figured out how to fix it. We may just have to cut a board to fit and attach that somehow.

3 Wow KatEck. That's good to know. Given prices on the real deal, I'll probably be going for a munchkin one and I'm thrilled to know to avoid the little tikes version.
Thank you.

4 Something I never even thought about looking at - how the back board is attached. I'm not sure it's all of the little tikes but ours is the little tikes NBA version. Good luck!

What is the height in inches of a 6'10" basketball player.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
