Can Australian sellers sell & dispatch within AMAZON? How do buyers know if product is being shipped from Australia?

How do buyers know if product is being shipped from Australia I'd like to promote my products on AMAZON, but when buyers are searching I'm cant ascertain how they at a glance determine if the vendor and stock is aussie based or US based. Aussie buyers won't buy from me if they think there goods are coming from the US. And if I want to sell to US buyers, how can this happen from Australia?

I had an enquiry from a buyer in Perth WAustralia for one of my books but he said when he accessed HIS amazon account in order to buy it he was told "this item cannot be shipped to this destination. Either change the address or delete the item from your shopping cart. " Am I registered with US?
