Can Creativity Be Taught or People Are Born With Talent?

Creativity can be triggered, or encouraged, in both "creative" and "non-creative" people. I teach creative writing to Elementary, Jr. and and I know by experience that some students who are normally considered "creative" are inspired/excited/stimulatedd by certain projects and suggestions I give, and others are not. Then when I give a different assignment, one that seems completely opposite on the spectrum of genres or ideas, the other children (labeled "non-creative") suddenly blossom in new ways, and I was astounded by the creativity they had and the unique routes they approached the task.

We have to come any discussion of creativity realizing that people are unique individuals, and different passions, ideas, inspirations trigger each person's creativity. Recommendations for encouraging your own creativity? Surround yourself with things that you love.

Clip out photos, articles, graphs, fabric/texture swatches, arithmetic equations, and make them part of your life. Surround yourself with people who challenge your mind, stimulate good conversation, and get you thinking in realms you don't normally think in. Read books that excite and inspire you, read them over and over, pinpointing what it is about it that you like.As you go about your normal routine or job each day, look for ways to streamline processes, for niches that need to be filled, problems that need solutions, and mull on them.

Stay away from the television; it over-stimulates the mind and discourages creativity. Solutions to problems and creative ideas seem to come to most people while they're asleep, in the shower, or talking it out with someone else. If you listen to music often, limit yourself to instrumental music or silence.

There is nothing like cacophony to scare the curiosity out of a cat. Creativity is encouraged, not taught.

Both..., if it isn't "naturally instilled", your desire, need and dedication to possess such talent can work in your favor as well. For some people creativity is like going to sleep and waking up. They possess something that cannot be bought or taught and regardless of how much energy they put in, their creative talent will continuously flow.

I think Creativity and Talent are two sides of a coin. Creativity comes from within when a person is exposed to that field or has a keen interest to follow it. Talent is inborn and the individual tends to adapt to it easily and is able to create his own identity in it.

Answering your question.......Creativity can be taught or exposed to that individual if he has an interest in it.

I think creativity emerges from an active imagination. If a person is encouraged to develop their imagination they will figure out how to creatively use their ideas. Creativity can manifest itself in many ways: new ideas/ways of thinking, writing, music, artistic expression through painting, drama, etc.Each person has their own unique bent toward creativity and part of self-discovery is finding that trait within ourselves.

Once a person discovers their own style of creativity they will need to find ways to develop it, improve on it, and use it the best way they can.

Creativity is the fuel to your gift or talent. Once one finds their talent, they can teach or be taught on how to pull off their creativeness to achieve higher.

A lot of people are born with gifts. But yes, creativity can also be taught. I was born with a musical talent, but now I am a pretty gifted seamstress on my own time, but I had to learn how to do it first.

Took quite a bit of practice.

Creativity is such a broad subject. I know people who can sit down at a piano and make up a song but can't read a note of music, nor play it. Other people I know who seemingly don't have a creative bone in their body can play Bach like a pro.

I think we're all born with a certain amount of creativity, it needs to be recogised and nurtured though. You don't have to be an artist to be creative, just able to put your own spin on things to make a process work better.My friend is a teacher, she can't write stories or songs or poems, but when I look at her lesson plans I'm blown away by the creativity ... she has it, it just appears in a different way.

I believe that we are born with some amount of creativity but that ultimately it is a skill like any other. Skills are honed or they wither. Some skills are taught others are merely refined with training.

I think creativity is a skill which is innate - not to say we are all equally endowed. Only the exercise and purposeful refinement of the creative skill can bring it to its fullest potential. That's my 2 cents...

I think for the most part you are born with creativity. I am not very creative, even though I really wish I was.

I believe that creativity is the result of our environment, more nurture than nature. It ties in with coping with problems, but I don't know which came first.

Talent can be taught, for example, in some countries in the past, young students have been selected and chosen only from their body shape/size, and then trained as Gymnasts or Ballet Dancers, who have gone on to compete in the Olympics or have become prominant Dancers. With the right training, and enough of it, you can can becomed skilled at a talent, still it may not mean that these individuals are 'Creative' just that they have become skilled.

The problem is that most people are born with natural talent and creativity BUT the school system, parents, etc tend to discourage their creativity in preference to conformity. So, as adults many many people still have the creative spark though it may be "deeply" buried. With the proper atmosphere the creativity and talent can be brought back out for many people.

Remember don't squelch creativity and imagination in your children! In head start my daughter was sent home with a note. The teacher complained that my daughter didn't understand what color grass was and that she should color it green when she colored it pink.

I was outraged and went to the school and I told them all that my daughter knew full well what color grass was but if she wanted to render it pink or purple in her art work they better not say anything against it.

Creativity, Talent, & SkillGod "created" us with "creativity. " It's what we do with it. Talent is something we develop through practice.It's also God-given as a Grace.

Skill needs to be developed and taught using our Talent to its utmost. God creates us with Creativity. He gifts us with various Talents which He expects us to use Skillfully.

I think both the ways are possible, some people are born with the creativity and talent, and few achieve it by sheer hardwork, but still even though after sheer hardwork, they lack that essence that is in the god gifted people without much of effort...

I think It just depends on the person your talking about. For instance if your teaching a kid to draw, you would show them different techinques. But then there are the kids who can draw there hearts out who have never had a lesson.

There are people whose already born with talent, it's on their genes ... I guess. But there are some whose still longing and clueless to their talents. As time goes by, these people learns and develops their talent through doing the things that they love to do.

There's no hard and fast rule that creativity can/cannot be taught or is it in-built. Creativity is the innate nature of humans, its just that we are attracted to certain art form or talent which maybe into our genes,or per se some unfulfilled desire of past births, or even influenced by individuals environment i.e. Society,family etc...If you observe when we are very happy and ecstatic, we get ideas that never struck us or solutions that we were searching for a long time at that time our creativity unfolds.

We are born with some talents which we unfold, some of which are yet to be unfolded are our hidden talents which we feel connected to, these are our talents from our past births and hence the connection. This is the same reason some child prodigy's perform and excel at some art say singing , dancing etc righthood from early childhood. So if one needs to bring out creativity, one must be always happy and creativity follows suit.

Two different subjects entirely. Creativity can cover a great deal of subjects. If someone is artistic, meaning they can draw, paint or something like that, I believe most of that talent is god given.

I know that I can draw very well, but I can't sing, nor can I play the piano. I like to sing and I like to try and play the piano, but it doesn't come easy for me. My hands are to large for small instruments.

For some reason I can draw though and I can make things with my large hands, even fine details are easy. It's in my makeup. Now a person can possess a talent and be rusty or un trained.

They can develop that talent with the proper training. Some people just don't have the ability.

Human brains are designed for creativity. Creativity is the basis for problem solving. The speed at which a individual become bored or dissatisfied with a situation and look for ways to successfully modify that situation is a measure of an individual's creativity.

Artistic Creativity is a response to the internal need for expression and stimulation. Unfortunately, many people are not encouraged to develop their own artistic creativity and are told that they can only experience an "Artist's" creation to try to fill their own need. Talent is a result of many elements of an individual - motor skills (both fine and gross), well developed senses (all five), spatial orientation and more.

Most of these elements are developed during the first five years of a child's life through experiental play. Poor health, nutrition and environment can severly impede a child's development. As the child matures through the next 15 years, some elements will take precedence based on the child's interest and experiences.To sum up, a human is born with creativity and the opportunity for talent.

Both need to be nurtured to develop into skills.

Creativity is something you are born with... Just ask anyone who lacks creativity. Talent can be taught and cultivated to anyone who realizes their potential and puts forth an effort.

Creativity for me, is spending time planting, and watering my flowers.

I believe people are born with talent; but getting good at it depends on whether it's encouraged and nurtured at home. If a member of the family is good at something it will generally encourage the children to be good at it; and also it's down to nurturing it; and practising and enjoying it. Everyone has a different brain certain people use different parts of their brains more than others.It's the talent that suits your brain that matters...and have all the factors in place.

Creativity possess with inborn talended people though by trying to be creative with training you can be creative too. Just be patient and achieve your goals.

People are born with creativity; the challenge is in squelching our inner critic and keeping our inner child alive! Creativity can be killed over many years of not using and/or building it up. It can be brought back to life through creative workshops and exercises.

Both creativity and Talent are different yet similar. A high level of creativity cannot be taught. Yet some people with little creativity can have lots of talent.

If you train to be a dancer under the guidance of a teacher you end up being really talented. I am reminded by descriptions of some people as over achievers. I agree that this is part of being talented but not creativity.

Creativity and Talent are two different things, and require the use of different parts of the brain. I write with my left hand but complete tasks with my right. I find that because I'm left handed I am more creative and this can be proven by the part of the brain on my right side that I can access more easily than people who are right handed.At the same time however I am good at problem solving and English which is access from the left hemisphere.

I am an artist, and I paint and draw a lot and I can say without arrogance that I am pretty good, but not great. I dream a lot and remember them and all these things factor into my creative abilities and the way I express myself. Creativity can come in different forms artistic, musical, bodily-kinestetic mostly and these are things that people are born with and can develop with the right exposure and motivation.

Talent I think you are born with as well, but I think depending on how young children are exposed to certain things, can foster into developing skills they never considered. For example your child loves to draw and that's encouraged (creativity) but you want them to be competitive dancers... if you start them young and support them properly they can be Creative and can learn a new talent they maybe never would have considered when they were older.

Some people are born with other talents yes but anyone can learn to do anything. Time and practice are key. If we don't take the time to learn something of course we won't learn it.

And if we don't practice it we won't retain it.

Creativity can be explored. I hope that everyone gets that chance to have some time to be creative. Most people who are creative have no idea and its remarkable what talent comes out when the opportunity arrises.

I believe that people can be born creative but without helping that creativity out it dies. My Dad had a natural born ability to write and from a young age he wrote different articles. As he grew to Man hood he knew he wanted to start a newspaper business.

When he got out of the service he decided to start this business up. It was a small newspaper but carried a lot of weight around the city. He wrote the articles for the paper and they were done very well.

S newspapers were widely distributed around the city and were read. Now in this case my Dad did this all on his own. He fueled his own creativity.

There are others out there who have the creative juices in them but just need someone to pump the juices to get them going.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
