Believe it or not, before Food Stamps, there were actually these things called charities that would help with that. There were also Mutual Aid societies that people joined with the goal of helping each other. @Romare - That chart you post is pure fiction.

That's 17% military spending, not 57%. Even if you add the $138 Billion in Veterans Affairs spending, you still only wind up with $741 Billion out of $3.5 Trillion, or 21%.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
