Can I change the default color Excel 2007 uses to highlight the selected cells in a worksheet?

Here's how: Excel is like most other applications in that it uses the color scheme indicated in your system preferences. To change it in Windows, go to your display properties (either click on "diplay" in your control panel or just right click on an empty part of your desktop wallpaper and choose "properties"). Select the appearances tab.

Depending on your version of Windows, you may have an "advanced" button on this tab which you should click. In the "item" drop down menu, choose "selected," and then you can pick the color you want to use. Click "OK" to get out of the advanced properties (if you have them) and then "apply" and "OK."

I’m not a mac person, but I did find this article that explains where your display properties can be modified if you’ve got a mac with OS X. Realize, though, that if you change this to get the color you want in Excel, it’ll change your other applications as well. It might take some playing around until you find one that’s suitable for everything.

Hope this helps! .

I've done a considerable amount of searching of the net to find an answer to that question as I have been experiencing the same problem. It appears that the hilight color is fixed within the Excel 2007 program and can't be changed. However, I did notice that from certain angles - looking at the monitor when the cells were hilighted, I could see the hilighted cells much better.

I then adjusted my monitor's contrast settings (while I had the Excel spreadsheet open) to the point where the shading be came visible, while still having enough brightness so that other applications weren't adversly effected. Until someone finds an answer to this (or Microsoft fixes it), this may be the best solution.

1 MidwestPurgatory, regarding your answer "Here's how:":MidwestPurgatory:changing the settings you recommended changes the selection color in every program on my computer *except* Excel 2007, which still uses a very faint gray color.

3 Wow - I'm sorry! That's always worked for me in the past, I never imagined it would have changed (I've used everything from Excel 95 through 2003). How lame!

Anyway, sorry I used up an answer slot.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
