Considering you have a refund coming I DOUBT you will have to pay when you ammend it. Im not sure where the others are getting this from but unless it throws you into a new tax bracket you will probably get the same refund you just need to file the ammended return to fix your amount.
You must now file an amended return using Form 1040-X to correct the error. Be prepared to PAY when you do so as there's a good chance that the tax withheld was correct on the paystub but the income is now higher You should demand that the original preparer do this at no charge. However there's a risk here because these jerks either have no problem with breaking the law or they are grossly incompetent.
If you go elsewhere, which frankly would be a good idea, you'll have to pay to have the amended return prepared, plus pay any additional tax due. The tax on the difference will depend upon your tax bracket but typically would be $150 or less for most taxpayers. Figure $50 to $100 for preparation of the amended return if you go elsewhere to have it done.
Once you've done that, call the IRS at 1-800-TAX-1040 and report the original preparer. They are in clear violation of the law and if the IRS can substantiate your claim -- which your amended return will help to prove -- they may shut them down or at least kill their e-file rights.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
