Not a direct answer to your question, but... Just a side suggestion depending on how deeply you’re interested in trademarks. See if you have a Patent Depository Library near you. The USPTO website will tell you where they are.
The main library in San Francisco is one, for example, as is the one in Buffalo. At these libraries you will find old bound copies of the Patent Gazette which not only has patent applications but trademark applications shown. I personally have looked at every trademark from 1872 through 1942 - at least a quarter of a million of them.
Sure it took me two years, but I learned a whole lot! You don’t need to spend two years... but if you go and browse through them some lazy afternoon, looking at issues from say the 20’s and 30’s, you’ll see a lot of great artwork and probably gain something from the process. You’ll see the changes in cultural values reflected in them, you’ll see references to current events of the time that are now forgotten - passing fads of language and slang - racism and darker things... and just stylistic changes.
I may have spent thousands of hours at it, but for me it was one of the most educational experiences I’ve ever had - significantly changed my understanding of our culture.

The materials, drawn from the Rare Book, Manuscript, and Special Collections Library at Duke University, include cookbooks, photographs of billboards, print advertisements, trade cards, calendars, almanacs, and leaflets for a multitude of products. I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
