It doesn't sound as though she was "negligent" in a way that would allow you to win a lawsuit. She didn't misdiagnose you. She diagnosed you and apparently treated you with painkillers.
For fifteen years. The fact that you stayed with this doctor for fifteen years seems to indicate you liked something about her. Patients have a responsibility to be an advocate for themselves.
You had a responsibility to seek a second opinion or do your own research. It's actually more than a little interesting that your issue with your doctor didn't start until her office finally told you they were cutting off the drug supply. If you attempted to file a lawsuit, this would be the argument her attorney would be making.
I guarantee they would portray you as a drug seeker. If you think her office made you feel bad, you have no idea what a half way decent attorney could do.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
