Birds of prey are not bothered by proximity to a house, There used to be a pair of red-tailed hawks that roosted in the trees in my neighbor's yard across the street. I often watched them catch prey in my yard, usually voles, mice, small rabbits and chipmunks, but I also found a smashed robins nest under a tree with one damaged and dead chick, and figured it might have been their work. Feral or outdoor domestic cats will lurk near feeders and snatch birds that try to ground feed.
Voles and mice will eat large insects and would likely eat the newborn young of other rodents if they found them in a nest without the mother, but I have never heard of them going after a bird -- I doubt they would be very effective.
A sparrow hawk once flew into my house in pursuit of a small bird . So houses are not 'no go' areas for hawks.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
