Can someone help me find the title of this book I read as a teenager in the 70s or early 80s?

The book is about a teen girl who befriends an older man. They have many philosophical discussions about love and sex. They eventually have an affair.

They continue to have mature discussions about what they are doing and how sex should be something that can be shared by any two people who have deep feelings for each other regardless of age. This is all I can remember about the book. I loaned it to a friend back then who never returned it.
