Hmm I get your idea, and I do think it is a cute one...the beautiful diamond is set in a "for show only" (I think others are thinking you want to actually set the stone in plastic, but that is not what you are doing, it is just to "hold" the diamond in during the proposal and will not be actually worn) clear plastic ring, so you can still slip it on her finger and then have the setting made at a later date. Right? I looked and googled away and I didn't find anything except many different single stone displays, which range from boxes to a sort of rod display with the stone at the end.
No "pop the stone in" plastic rings :-( You could go with one of those (simply look up "single diamond display" and a bunch of options will come up. Or you could purchase a little box with a hinged lid. You could cut out a pic of the two of you together to the size of the inner lid (kind of like a locket concept) and then have the stone secured in black velvet in the bottom of the box.
I found a lot of "placeholder rings" which I believe is what your pic is of, but none that you could pop a diamond in and out of. Your idea is a good one - do you know anyone with a 3D printer? Or that works with plastics and moldmaking?
(think businesses that make custom action figures and costuming items) You might look up businesses in your area that do "mold/model making" they might be able to custom make you a plastic placeholder pop the diamond in ring, but I would imagine the cost would be high. I know I didn't give you the link you were looking for, but I hope I at least gave you some ideas that might help! Happy wishes!
:-) And PS I also think it is very wise and sweet of you to want to design the setting together :-).
Setting a diamond in plastic is insane since the plastic is cheap & will break easily. Its ridiculous to think that someone sells plastic rings for diamonds because they know its stupid.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
