Canadians Forced to Apologize for Celebrating"Are you as embarrassed as I am about this , being a fellow North American continent neighbor?

I would have to say that in this case an apology is in order. But not for celebrating their victory, as is the entire point of the Olympic Games. But for the example it showed to the rest of the world.

Let me explain. Olympic athletes are to be an example. They are looked up to not only be their fellow countrymen and women, but by children.

Seeing 18 and 19 year old girls smoking and drinking to celebrate is not a good example. Congratulations are in order, and they should be proud of their accomplishments. But with this honor also comes responsibility.

I have to agree with ritzbloc it was an inappropriate way to celebrate on the ice. To bring in tobacco and alcohol to an athletic event was stupid. Even the pros wait until they get to the lockerroom. So why did the swimmer have to get suspended for his bong?

The Olympics is about winning. A few Canadians decide to drink a few beers and smoke a few stogie and everybody freaks out. Would you be so embarassed if it wasn't the U.S. girls they whooped?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
