Your need to ensure all Views are initialised before running code against them. As njzk said getQuestionList is throwing hence prgloading or txtAlert is null so move the code that accesses getQuestionList from OnCreate to an overridden onActivityResult. (Fragment lifecycle -http://developer.android.com/reference/android/app/Fragment.html#Lifecycle).

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
